Most Extraordinary Churches of the World

The most beautiful buildings on earth, are probably the churches, monasteries and other religious structures. You can do much more with much faith and lack of money with a lot of money, but without any faith.

1. Church of St. George(Lalibela, Ethiopia)

Probably the most famous Lalibela churches, the church of Saint-Georges entirely carved in stone in the shape of a cross.

2. Trendsetters Church (Phoenix, AZ, USA)

Trendsetters Church in Phoenix, Arizona, built in 1973 by Neil Frisby as the Cathedral of Capstone. I'm sure Neil Frisby visited Egypt, just before the design of this church.

3. Chapel in the Rock (Arizona, USA)

This is a fascinating Catholic church is literally built on the rock. From the outside are amazing, but the serenity is in awesome, some say, that the Chapel Rock can not move, even non-religious.

4. The Wireman Chapel at Eckerd College (St. Petersburg, Florida, USA)

Eero Saarinen was the chapel designed by the respected architectural firm Perkins and Will of Chicago. The central motif is its octagonal and round seats, the Oculus in the middle of the roof that directs light from the sun in the middle of the sanctuary, the glass panels that reflect light less water to the outside to inside, and the beams, resembling flying buttresses of the medieval cathedral, instilling a sense of timelessness in a modern structure.

5. Saint-Michel d’Aiguilhe chapel (Le Puy-en-Velay, France)

Perhaps one of the most remarkable in France, a chapel perched on a volcanic plug. This is the Rock of Aiguilhe on the outskirts of the city of Le Puy en Velay, Auvergne. La Chapelle-Saint-Michel stayed there for 1042 years, since the bishop had built in 962 Gothescalk returning from a pilgrimage to Santiago of Compostela, in Galicia. In 1955, workers are under the altar the relics that had been there since it was built.

6.The Chapel on the Rock (Allenspark, Colorado, USA)

The founder of Camp St. Malo, Monsignor Joseph Bosetti, had for years entertained an idea he would one day build a chapel on this site. In 1916 he and two friends observed a falling meteor during the night and remains in its search for the next morning he came upon a large rock. The beauty of the land inspired the priest and he remembered the words of Jesus to Peter, ". For this rock I will build my church "(Matthew 16:18).

7. Cadet Chapel (Air Force Academy, Colorado, USA)

U.S. Air Force Chapel Academy cadet, completed in 1962, is the hallmark of the space cadet in the United States Air Force Academy. It was designed by renowned architect Walter Netsch of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of Chicago. In a controversial principle in its design, Cadet Chapel has become one. Classical and popular modernist architecture Cadet Chapel was awarded the American Institute of Architects National 25 years in 1996, and as part of Space Cadet, was named U.S. National Historic Landmark in 2004.

8.St. Augustine Church (Brookland, Kent, UK)

"Yes, the last 12-century wooden bell tower is separated from the rest of the church! It seems the only of its size and shape in the country. It was originally open to the elements of sheath addedin the 15th century. Hardly You can take a picture of this beautiful church without getting that garbage or son on the phone (or two) on the chassis! trash remains in all the guides "

The Church of Hallgrímur is a Lutheran parish church which is also a very tall one, reaching 74.5 meters (244 ft) height. It is the fourth tallest architectural structure in Iceland. It took incredibly long to build it (38 years!) Construction work began in 1945 and ended in 1986.

10. Las Lajas Cathedral (Colombia, South America)

Las Lajas Cathedral was built in 1916 within the Guaitara River Canyon, where according to local legend, the Virgin Mary appeared. You will find the southern Colombian department of Nariño, Ipiales town, near the border with Ecuador.
