The Georgia Guidestones

While most mysterious monuments of this list was the first on the way over the centuries, the Georgia Guide Stones, also known as the American Stonehenge, is a milestone that has always been intended to be an enigma. The monument, which consists of four monolithic granite slabs supporting a capstone unique, was commissioned in 1979 by a man who went under the pseudonym RC Christian. A local mason carefully designed as a place of stone is aligned with the sun on the solstices and equinoxes, and a small hole is always directed toward the North Star. Most interesting, however, are inscriptions on the plaques that accompany a plate described as "a Guidestones age of reason.

"In eight different languages, the tiles offer a strange ten-point plan to secure peace on Earth that includes vague proclamations like" truth and beauty of the price-love-seeking harmony with the infinite "controls very specific as to "maintain humanity under 500000000 constantly in balance with nature." Comments like this was one of the most controversial monuments Guidestones in the United States, and have long been protesting and even acts of vandalism from groups that would like to see demolished.

The Mystery

For all the controversy is largely unknown who built Guidestones or what their true purpose. RC Christian said that he was an independent when he ordered markers, but neither he nor his group has counted since it was built. Since the monument was built at the height of the Cold War, a popular theory about the intentions of the group is that Guidestones serve as a primer for how to rebuild society after a nuclear holocaust.
