Of the world's most famous monuments, none has gained a reputation as a pure and simple mystery of Stonehenge . Stonehenge was an inspiring discussion among scholars, scientists and historians from the Middle Ages. Located in the English countryside, the marker is said to date back to 2500 BC, and consists of several pieces of rock mammoths organized and stacked on each other in what appears at first glance to be a random design. The site is surrounded by a circular moat small, and is lined with burial mounds on all sides. Although the rock formations that remain are certainly impressive, it is believed that the modern version of Stonehenge is only a small remnant of a much larger monument that has been damaged by the passage of time, and is widely believed that the process building was so extensive that could have gone in and out of place from 1500 to 7000 years.
